Our first guest on the podcast is DJ and Music Producer Rob da Bank, founder of the Bestival brand and a real force on the Island. We interviewed him at his amazing house near Yarmouth – right on the water.
The first question on the podcast is always going to be the same: Why the Island? As we chatted – surrounded by memorabilia from his long career in the music industry he tells us: “Coming to live on the Island was a happy accident… It’s home and it’s perfect for us!”
Rob is best-known on the Island for starting Bestival – or ‘boutique festival’ – which ran until 2016, before it moved to the mainland and is now known as Camp Bestival. When asked if the event is coming back to the Island he says: “I get asked that at least once a week. I’d never say never. Bestival was racy, it was mad, it was lunacy on a big scale – in a very respectful, safe way. Bestival is 20 years old, something might happen, now I’ve said that people are going to think… – well, we’ll see!”
