Hostd Homes | 5 Tips for Getting Your Property Ready to Welcome Holiday Guests

  • Holiday Letting

Spence Willard speak with Nicola of Hostd Homes,
to bring you some top tips for getting your home ready for holiday guests

No. 1. Create a Welcoming Atmosphere

Ensure your property is professionally cleaned and any maintenance issues are addressed ahead of your first booking. Don’t sleep on this as a little extra work now will minimise call outs and really bolster your chances of receiving wonderful reviews. Add personal touches such as fresh flowers, local artwork, and quality furnishings to create a homely feel. Stick to a few pieces you really love and aim for curated rather than cluttered!

No. 2. Invest in Comfort

Choosing high-quality mattresses, pillows, and linens provides a great impression and ensures your guests leave well rested! Consider adding thoughtful items such as blackout blinds, fans for warmer nights and throw blankets for cosying up under.

No. 3. Pay Attention to Detail

Draw up a checklist of must have items, just like the extensive inventory that we provide to all owners of our Hostd Homes. By following this, you can ensure that kitchen is fully equipped ready for guests to prepare meals with ease, and bathrooms are stocked with ample amenities for the duration of the stay. The addition of a welcome pack, left for each new guest, is a lovely detail. These can be adjusted according to budget/length of stay, but a handwritten note accompanying some delicious local coffee and biscuits goes a long way!

No.4. Prioritise Safety and Security

In accordance with 2023 regulations, all short stay accommodation must be fitted with interlinking smoke alarms and carbon monoxide detectors. Fire risk assessments must be conducted, and guests should be made aware of what to do in the event of a fire. Consider installing a key safe or smart lock system for secure key management. New codes can be issued ahead of each guest to enhance security.

No.5. Offer Exceptional Customer Service

    • Respond promptly to guest inquiries and remain proactive, aiming to be as warm and accommodating as possible! To help our guests plan for their trip and quickly familiarise themselves with the property, we create digital guides unique to each of our Hostd Homes. Guests always comment that they really appreciate the tried-and-true personal recommendations for local restaurants, shops and attractions.

By following these tips, you can ensure your property is well-prepared to welcome your first guests and provide them with a memorable experience.
At Hostd Homes, we’re committed to helping you make a great first impression and achieve success in the holiday let market.
