Interior Series with Jack Thompson & Co. | 5 Benefits of Faux Flowers

  • Interior Design

Spence Willard are proud to collaborate with
Jack Thompson & Co.,
to bring you the latest interior design ideas, hints & tips

No. 1. They are cost effective

I purchased a bouquet of faux roses in a vase fifteen years ago and it still looks as amazing as it did then. It cost £45, which is exceptional value considering how long they continue to last. This allows your flower budget to extend beyond a week to over many years, the key is to invest in quality.

No. 2. They are versatile

Different types of faux botanicals can be arranged as a bouquet like fresh flowers, but can be dismantled to be re-used differently, therefore creating a new look.
They tend to be resilient and less likely to be damaged unlike fresh flowers with delicate petals and stems.

No. 3. You can have them in every room

Collecting faux botanicals enables you to have a bouquet in every room at all times.
This is ideal in a holiday home where you may only have a short stay and fresh flowers will not last until your next visit.
A floral arrangement can uplift the mood of a room and makes a scheme feel welcoming and complete.

No. 4. You can mix faux and fresh

I love fresh flowers and working with talented florists as part of my design store so I often have a real bouquet at home.
Mixing real and faux botanicals in the same vessel can enhance the overall impact the arrangements have in your home.
For a contemporary look, I like to use real leafy tree branches mixed with faux botanicals as they tend to last longer than flowers and they can be easily be foraged.

No. 5.  There is an environmental consideration

Although most faux botanicals are imported from overseas, it worth noting that 80% of cut flowers in the UK originate from the Netherlands and that most roses are flown from Kenya when not in season here. So buying lasting faux botanicals can help reduce the impact from frequent imports of fresh flowers.
